Our sustainability standards for products, services, and companies are based on life cycle research and are developed in an open, transparent, and stakeholder-involved process. Green Seal standards provide criteria and guidelines for manufacturers, service providers, and companies to work toward sustainability and Green Seal certification. Green Seal has 31 issued standards that cover over 375 product and service categories.

GS-05 Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) This standard is for energy efficient lighting including lamps used for general illumination purposes, special purposes, and includes both screw based and pin based lamps and those with integrated and non-integrated ballasts.
GS-11 Paints and Coatings This standard is for paints and coatings including wall, anti-corrosive, and reflective coatings, floor paints and primers and undercoats.
GS-13 Windows The standard is for residential fenestration products including windows, skylights, glazed exterior doors and storm doors.
GS-31 Electric Chillers This standard is for 60 Hz, 3-phase, electric motor driven, vapor compression-type water-chilling packages or systems of 150 tons up to 2,000 tons in rated cooling capacity, commonly referred to as "chillers."
GS-36 Adhesives for Commercial Use This standard is for adhesives that are intended and labeled for use as a commercial adhesive.
GS-43 Recycled Content Latex Paints This standard is for recycled-content interior and exterior latex paint.
GS-47 Stains and Finishes This standard is for stains and finishes, applying to water-borne, solvent-borne, semi-transparent or opaque stains and varnishes, shellacs, water-based finishes, polyurethane, lacquer, oil finishes and clear metal lacquers.
The Claim Verification Program The program establishes requirements for optional verified claims for Green Seal-certified products and services.
