Overview

Many government and non-profit organizations are looking for ways to improve human health and the environment in their communities. Green Seal, through our Institutional Greening Programs, provides assistance to government and non-profit organizations in five key areas:
 

• Green Cities/Green Businesses,
• Green Purchasing,
• Green Hospitality, and
  
• Green Buildings Operation & Maintenance.

Green Seal provides technical assistance in these areas to local, state, and federal organizations, as well as to other entities. Each project, and the cost of the technical assistance provided, is tailored to the specific needs of the organization.

Green Cities/Green Businesses

Green Seal works with local governments to help them develop and implement green business certification programs that are tailored to local needs and priorities. Click here for more information.

Green Purchasing

We offer technical assistance to help organizations implement environmentally preferable purchasing (EPP) practices. The assistance provided varies according to need, from helping organizations set priorities for their EPP plans, to developing comprehensive green purchasing manuals that include detailed product specifications. Green Hospitality

We work with local governments to encourage hospitality businesses to achieve Green Seal certification under two nationally recognized Green Seal standards, GS-33 for Hotels and Lodging Properties and GS-46 for Restaurants and Foodservices. Green Seal has also partnered with local organizations to help them develop standards for their local certification program.  Click here for more information.

Green Seal has helped create the tools that organizations need to establish green operations and maintenance programs for their buildings and facilities in an environmentally sound manner. Click here for more information.

Current & Completed Projects

Green Seal has worked with many government and non-profit organizations over the years, including the States of California and Colorado; the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; the National Park Service; the U.S. Army; Los Angeles County; the World Bank; and the Inter-American Development Bank.
