GREEN SEAL™ ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARD FOR Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFLs) - GS-5

The Green Seal Environmental Standard for Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFLs), GS-5, establishes a broad set of environmental requirements for these energy efficient lighting products.

The standard provides a way to identify high quality CFLs with long life, low mercury content, lead-free, manufactured responsibly, packaging with recycled content, and with free mechanisms for recycling used CLFs. The standard can serve as a tool to help companies begin to take action to improve their products and is available for Green Seal certification.
