WAUSAU, WIS. - October 19, 2006 — - Wausau Paper announced today that its Printing & Writing segment has earned the distinguished Green Seal® certification for eight colors within its Royal Metallics™ and Astrobrights Glisten™ brands. The newest additions to the company's Green Seal certified product portfolio further increases Wausau Paper's market-leading assortment of Green Seal-certified printing and writing papers

Wausau Paper's Green Seal certification applies to approximately two-thirds of the company's more than 1,600 commercial printing and writing stock items, including the entire Exact Eco 100™ line and offerings in 17 other brands. The certification recognizes paper that has at least 30 percent recycled post-consumer fiber and meet stringent process control standards for handling pulp and making paper as well as adhering to strict limits on heavy metals within packaging materials.
